Game On: June Update and Highlights

What an incredible few months it's been!

While our young athletes are enjoying their summer break, we're hard at work behind the scenes, perfecting every detail of our programs. We're refining our onboarding processes, training our coaches, and making sure that when fall arrives, we're ready to deliver an even more impactful experience for the girls we serve.

We also have some exciting news to share:

NEW SCHOOLS: We're thrilled to share that six schools have already shown interest, and two are in the onboarding process for the EmpowerPlay program!

CCSD: We've been officially approved as an enrichment for the CCSD Kaleidoscope program

COACH TRAINING: We are working with the Women's Coaching Alliance to strengthen our coach training course.

Summer might be our quiet season on the field, but it's our busiest season behind the scenes. We're laying the groundwork for our biggest year yet, and we can't wait to share this journey with you.

Volunteer Highlight:

Mary Rockelman

This month, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Mary Rockelman, a key member of our marketing committee who focuses on public relations. Mary first connected with Leveling the Fields through a neighbor and a shared interest in building a career in sports. After an inspiring conversation with our founder, Melyssa, she knew this was a mission she wanted to be part of. Mary's passion for empowering girls through sports started in college, where she served as Public Relations Vice President for Gamma Phi Beta. There, she supported Girls on the Run, helping organize joyful and confidence-boosting 5Ks for young girls. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to uplifting the next generation of female leaders continue to make a meaningful impact on our team.

“I officially joined LTF in May of 2025, and I can’t wait to help expand our reach. I graduated from Pepperdine in 2024 with a bachelor’s in Public Relations and a minor in Sustainability, and I’m currently looking for full-time roles related to my degree. The sports administration classes I took in college were hugely influential in my desire to work in the sports industry. I’m originally from Columbus, Ohio, but my family moved to Charleston in 2021. I love traveling and watching sports, specifically Brewers baseball and Ohio State football. Recently, I’ve also become the advisor for my former chapter of Gamma Phi Beta.”
