Volunteers of Leveling the Fields

Behind every girl who discovers a new sport, gains confidence, or realizes she's capable of more is someone who chose to show up.

Volunteers play an essential role in helping Leveling the Fields remove barriers and create more opportunities for girls to experience the life-changing benefits of sports. Whether you're serving on a committee, supporting a community event, helping behind the scenes, or lending your professional expertise, your time and talents help make our mission possible.

When you volunteer with Leveling the Fields, you're joining a community of people who believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to play, grow, and lead. Together, we're building confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork - one girl, one program, and one community at a time.

If you're ready to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to have you on the team.

Commitment Expectations

Committee Chair

Committee Chairs lead and manage their committee and report to the Executive Director. This is an ongoing leadership role requiring regular participation throughout the year.

Commitment Includes:

  • Monitoring email and Slack daily

  • Serving a minimum 1-year term

  • Leading, managing, and supporting committee members to meet organizational objectives

  • Holding regular committee meetings (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly)

  • Attending a weekly/bi-weekly check-in with the Executive Director

  • Attending the monthly Committee Chair meeting

  • Providing a brief quarterly update on committee progress

  • Attending 2–3 in-person organizational meetings or events each year

  • Helping create and execute goals that support Leveling the Fields' mission

Committee Member

Committee Members work with their Committee Chair and fellow volunteers to help move the organization forward, contributing to decision-making for both their committee and the organization as a whole.

Commitment Includes:

  • Serving a one-year term, with the option to renew

  • Attending weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings as set by the Committee Chair

  • Completing assigned tasks and projects on time

  • Communicating proactively if availability changes

  • Supporting the mission and values of Leveling the Fields

  • Participating in organizational events and initiatives when possible

Contributor

Contributors support Leveling the Fields by helping with a specific project, singular task, or project-based initiative. They lend their skills, time, or connections without taking on the ongoing responsibilities of a committee chair or committee member. This role is built around flexibility: some projects are short-term with a clear beginning and end (like helping run a single event), while others are ongoing but narrower in scope (like managing our Google Ad Grant, or photographing our events). Either way, the time commitment is lighter than that of a standard committee role, and there's no expectation to attend regular weekly or biweekly committee meetings.

Commitment Includes:

  • Supporting a specific committee, project, or initiative in an area matching your skills or interests

  • Working independently or with minimal check-ins, depending on the nature of the project

  • Attending meetings only when relevant to your specific task

  • Completing agreed-upon tasks within the agreed timeline, whether that's a few weeks or an open-ended ongoing basis

  • Communicating regularly with the committee chair or project lead on availability and progress

Examples of Contributors' Roles:

  • Short-term: Helping design materials for a specific campaign

  • Ongoing: Managing our Google Ad Grant account on a continual basis

  • Short-term: Helping develop or review content for the sports curriculum

  • Ongoing: Serving as a go-to photographer for events throughout the year
