Meet the Team: Amanda Davis
Some people serve quietly behind the scenes. Others show up out in the community, rolling up their sleeves and spreading the word about a mission they believe in.
At Leveling the Fields, Amanda Davis does both.
Just this past weekend, I had the opportunity to see Amanda in action as she ran a booth at Cane Bay High School, speaking with parents about our mission and how Leveling the Fields can make a difference in their children’s lives. Watching her connect with families—answering questions, sharing our vision, and helping people understand the impact sports can have on young girls—was a reminder that the work we do doesn’t just happen in meetings or spreadsheets. It happens in conversations, relationships, and moments of advocacy in the community.
While Amanda has a background in sports (specifically gymnastics and cheerleading) her journey to Leveling the Fields is rooted just as deeply in service as it is in athletics.
Growing up, Amanda watched her parents consistently give their time to the community. This example slowly became part of the fabric of her life. That thread carried with her through childhood, through her time at Virginia Tech (whose motto, Ut Prosim, translates to “That I may serve”), and eventually into her decision to pursue a master’s degree in public health, a field fundamentally centered on improving the well-being of communities.
Today, Amanda continues that commitment to service through her professional work at MUSC Health, where she leads a team within Population Health focused on improving healthcare processes and outcomes. Outside of work, she brings that same mindset to Leveling the Fields, helping ensure our organization grows strategically and sustainably.
Sitting down with Amanda was such a treat. As a recent graduate who is deeply interested in health, service, and community impact, learning from her was easily the highlight of my week. Her perspective on process improvement, community needs assessments, and long-term strategic priorities made it immediately clear just how fortunate we are to have her leadership guiding our work.
Amanda will be the first to admit that her sports background looks a little different from many of us at LTF. Having grown up primarily in individual sports, she didn’t have the same traditional “team sport” experience that many of our members did. But spending even a short amount of time with her makes it clear that the lessons sports teach are still deeply ingrained.
Leadership. Discipline. Accountability. Showing up when it matters.
Amanda demonstrates those qualities every day. Not only through the teams she leads at MUSC Health and within Leveling the Fields, but also in the small moments that often go unnoticed. Speaking up in meetings with thoughtful ideas, offering strategic insight when decisions need to be made, and always approaching the work with a servant-minded attitude and a willingness to step in wherever help is needed.
People like Amanda are the reason organizations like Leveling the Fields continue to grow stronger.
With leaders like her helping guide the way, there’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll continue moving in the right direction, expanding our impact and opening doors for even more girls through the power of sport.
Thanks for reading and your continued support.
The Leveling the Fields Team.
